Combining the strengths of two organizations.
The vision is to take what you know or technology you have (even if it is “narrow”) and combine it with new technology, services, products, distribution, sales and/or marketing skills (and the companies that have those attributes) and expand and grow. Make your own market larger or create a new market.
It is pretty clear when you start thinking this way that there are not that many companies or people who are “right” for what you and they need to be successful. Simplifying your thought process and working with an external facilitator who is not encumbered by your or your company’s perceived or real barriers can be essential.
